Tip of the Week

Insurance Against Mediocrity

Credibility

What is it: Credibility is your reputation and character

Why it’s Important:  Credibility determines your believability and influence.

The Problem:  We can't know it all, yet many talk as if they do.  It's hard to follow the lead of someone in whom you lack faith.

The Tip:  Purposely initiate talk about something you don't know much about.  Practice acknowledging your ignorance about the topic and your willingness to learn.

5 things you'll demonstrate about your Credibility

  1. Humanness:  You're perfect because you're imperfect.
  2. Openness:  You're open to learning and listening.
  3. Confidence:  You're able to follow when called for.
  4. Respectfulness:   You're ready to accept another person's "humanness."
  5. Trustworthiness:  You can be relied upon.
